Would anyone like to share some of their personal stories/history with a champion 110?

I just got one. It was built in 1992 in ensenada, the same year and place that my strat that I've had for 15 years was built. Pretty trippy, It must have been meant to be.

Do You guys Love or Hate em? Ive never owned a Fender amp before. I've owned a Peavey studio pro 112 w/celestion vintage 30. and most recently I bought the super budget Raven RG20 because I needed cash and had to sell my peavey.

The real question here is... "Do YOU love or hate it?"

I have no experience with them. 8)

The main features of the amp I liked were the use of two channels and an external speaker out (8 ohms) as the amp is rated at 75-watts which is enough to power a decent cabinet.

I'm having a lot of fun with it. Though the amp does breakup it seems a little early. It starts getting insane destortion around 3 on the gain controls and never really falls on any mellower blues sounds. Wondering if I need an upgraded speaker that can carry the 25 watts better. This amp was sitting untouched in the dust 5+ years when I found it and bought it. Wondering if the speaker is any good or does it need replacing. The one in it is the original installed by finder which makes it 18 years old. Do speakers have a life limit?

The speaker end of life is reached when it is blown. If the sound is heavily distorted, even at low level then the cone may be separating from the coil. To verify, you can test with a multimeter for impedance, infinite is blown, 1 is good.

I had a Champ 12 and the gain channel was unusable, way too distorted, I believe there are mod to remedy that though.

A must for anyone who likes to tinker with any electronics.
