I just sold my 65 Twin Reverb R/I - finally. I sold mine because it was just way toooooo loud and waaaay to heavy. I bought it new in 2006 for a great price, well, I probably played it about 15 hours since then. And it turned into an expensive prop, one that I should have never bought to begin with.

I am lucky that I didn't need to sell it for the money, because I lost about a hundred bucks from when I bought it new, but now I'm looking forward to buying a Princeton Reverb.

After alot of research and playing through one many times, for me I think the Princeton will be the p-e-r-f-e-c-t amp, along with my champ 600.

Amazing as we get older ,we get more resourceful .I bought a 75 super reverb of ebay and thought "64 lbs, I can do that".When it came I was unaware that in the mid 70s they made them with bigger cabinets, weighing in at 85 lbs.Played it at home for a while ,dug the sound , but realized I would never be hauling that around to gigs.Ended up selling it to get a 65 deluxe reverb and couldnt be happier.

I use both a 74 S.F Twin and a 78 S.F pro reverb for gigs. I love the headroom and clean tone. My back hates me. My DRRI sounds great too, unfortunitly, my band is way too loud. I tried mic'in the DRRI through my PA (beringer pmp3000) at rehersal the other night, still need to tweek knobs to find my tone. hopefully I will, to save my back. the DRRI is perfect at blues jams, at normal volume levels. I really got the twin for outdoor gigs. good luck with your choice. as soon as my ears stop ringing, I'll let you know how my DRRI sounds thru my PA.

The Twin weight thing reminds me of the 70's when I carried my Twin up two flights of stairs to my college dorm room every week. It had JBLs and was obscenely heavy. Now wt is much more of a consideration for me...

I heard that! Alas, I just checked out an SF Vibrosonic Reverb ('72-4) which is a Twin Reverb with a big honkin' PS15 (in this particular incarnation) speaker replacing the two twelves. The Twin Reverb Custom 15 is the modern version of this amp. It's at a price I can pretend to afford, but -- luckily -- another local musician has first refusal on it. =sigh=

As I have remarked before, every bass player KNOWS that an 80 lb amp sound better than a 30 lb amp!
