Hi All,

Well it must be my turn.

Today I played my Blues Junior at lower than my normal volume level.

Normally I have the Master on full at 12 and the Gain at 2, obviously this setting provides the cleanest signal on this amp.

Anyway whilst playing at low volume, I noticed that the low E string when played entirely on it's own, caused a weird Static Crackling Distorted type noise in the cabinet.

I have the Bass sitting at about 4.

To me it sounded like the noise was coming from the cabinet and not from the actual signal itself.

Anyway, I am still most happy with this amp, but I would appreciate any tips from anyone whom has experience as to how to eliminate this problem.

It would really give me the hoo haa's....if was was to record using this amp.

Cheers.

Sounds like something I experienced about a month ago. When playing the low frequencies, the low E, there would be a crackle. My problem was that I have an old amp and the soldering, some of it had come off. So some capacitors would be connected and when the low frequencies came and vibrated the board, there would be temporary disconnections. This would be the crackle sound. Check if you get this crackle even at high frequencies. But my bet is it is this.

You may need an electrician for this.

Thanks Guy's, well today I tried using another strat and whammo, no problems. Weird sound gone.

I hate it when this stuff happens. anyway I'm thinking I may have to have a look at my Strat.

Thanks again.

Could be that you have an intermittent problem - the kind that make you tear your hair out because the problem shows up, but when you go to the tech, it disappears...

are the two strats same pickups?

Yeah that may be the situation to.

The guitar I used when the Static Vibration happened is loaded with 57/62 pups.

I used my other strat which is loaded with Texas Specials and there was no problem.

However I looked at the strat with my 57/62's on it and dropped the pickups position down closer to the pickguard and that has seemed to solve the problem.

I have never experienced this before. Strange.

Thanks Again Guy's.

Well people I will put my hand up and say that I have misdiagnosed my Blues Junior Crackling noise problem after all.

Anyway since the time I posted re this problem, I picked up my strat today and the problem came back and much worse.

The thoughts that crossed my mind were angry thinking of going through mucking around with the store trying to get it repaired.

Well I turn the BJ upside down and looked at the tubes and guess what?

One of the tubes had just about fallen out.

I pushed it back in and then powered up my amp and the problem is gone.

Yes nedorama you were spot on too.

Thanks Again guy's, I have never had to play around with amps before because all the one's I have owned have been serviced by an amp tech.

Cheers.

Don't feel too bad, Can't tell you how many tube amps people have brought out for me to fix that had tubes improperly seated in the sockets and that was the only problem.

Or I'll buy one at a garage sale or pawn shop that is marked as not working and its just a tube.

Do you know how many people bring lawn mowers to be fixed that are out of gas ??? A buddy of mine manages a large sales and repaire shop and loves to tell us every time that happens LOL !!!!

Glad you found it !
