Hello,

I was starting to look for a new amplifier as I sold my old one when I went on a very long trip, and was interested by the Acoustasonic SFX II since it offered a nice combo for singing and playing and has really good reviews.

However, while I mainly play acoustic, I also own a Fender Stratocaster, which I like a lot, and was therefore wondering if it sounded well if I played with an electric guitar on an acoustic amp.

What would be the differences in sound? Will it still be full or will it be intolerable?

Also, if anyone has the amplifier or another acoustic amplifier and electric guitar, could one record a simple sound preview with all clean settings so I can judge for myself?

Thanks,

-Jean

Are you looking for the amp for playing live, or for playing at home, or a little of both?

Haven't tried an Acoustasonic, but I believe it's optimized for an acoustic guitar, which is a broader frequency spectrum and works well for an acoustic guitar and voice. You may like your strat through it, but only one way to tell...

You may want to instead look into a good PA speaker like a QSC K12 - strong, excellent sounding speaker with 2 inputs and a mini mixer. Pair this with a good DI like the Radial JDI and you have a great amp for singing/acoustic guitar.

This doesn't help you with your Strat, but it does give you a more "multipurpose" piece of gear that you can grow with. Other bonus - the K12 is pole-mountable, so that you can get it up in the air to be heard.

I own 2 of the QSC HPR122i's for our band's main PA and 3 Mackie SRM-450s, and acoustics through those and a Radial JDI sound great. Come to think of it, we get a pretty good sound out of my Princeton Reverb or Bandmaster with a e906 on it through the PA as well when needed.

Definitely try before you buy and good luck.
