Hi guys...

Anyone on here ever experience the effects loop of the Supersonic combo just not work? The problem is that when I use a patch cable to jump the return/send I get a his noise and no boosted output (with the send and return all the way up, the volume is less than the direct signal)...also, when I try to connect any and all pedals through the effects loop I get the same loud hiss and volume drop, but no effect coming through.

To clarify quickly - Yes, the cables are good and Yes the pedals are connected correctly. I have checked the V4 preamp socket which is used for the effects loop and it is good, I have also replaced this tube and nothing has changed.

I've been through every cap and resistor and everything checks out. I've also replaced the send/return inputs on the PCB. Still not working...

Does anyone have an idea of where I should be looking in the amp's circuit to find the problem?

I am stumped here...any help would be greatly appreciated!!

Thank you!

foppstar - Not sure if you knew this already, but the schematics for the super-sonic are available from this web site

http://www.fender.com/support/amplifier_schematics.php

The other thing you should know is that V4 is the FX loop send buffer stage, and V5 is the FX loop return buffer stage, so it could be a problem with V5 too. Also, make sure you have 12AX7WC in V4 and V5 and not lower gain pre-amp tubes. If that's not it, I'd say take it to a tech too, this amp should still be in its 5 year transferable warranty.

Hello again.

Thank you for your replies...Just to give an update...it was in fact the V4 preamp tube socket that was the culprit! For some reason, all the continuity of the socket checked out fine, but the effects loop still didn't work. So it must have been an intermittent issue inside the socket itself.

Super strange issue I had there. Took the amp in to 2 different Fender authorized repair centers...they couldn't figure it out.

Once I replaced the V4 socket, everything is went back to normal. I ended up doing everything myself because I knew where the problem was, just couldn't get it to duplicate itself when I needed it to. The first shop even tried to tell me that I needed to buy all new tubes. Little did he know I litereally just installed brand new JJ's and Gold Lion KT-66's before I brought it in.

He told me they were all testing bad...hmmm...scaming much??? The tubes are of coures fine and the amp has never sounded better! While I was at it all I installed a Celestion Gold 12" speaker! Loving this amp now!!!
