traded in my blues jr. for a 65 DRRI. I love the tone, great amp. Bringing back for warranty work. Want to sound like I have a clue. The amp makes a flutter like noise, when the vibrato is engaged. I can adjust the speed of flutter with speed control. Thought it might be tube or something in the circuit board. Can anyone inlighten me on the problem?? Also, the standby switch makes a loud pop noise, when engaged, is that normal? My 74 twin and 78 pro reverb don't pop when I engage their standby. Thanks, Dutch.

As for the popping i hear that is pretty normal, a longer warm up and cool down time should make the popping less noticeable, as for the sound...i think i dont understand your question,... a fluttering in the vibrato channel sounds like, well, vibrato...if its a different noise im not sure...sorry if this was no help at all :?

thanks vince, Its a noise that the vibrato on my other amps don't make. I'm going to bring it in for warranty repair. I'm just curious, what is causing that flutter like noise. I guess there is some type of blinking LED on the circuit board, that blinks when the vibrato is engaged.

I'm not sure what you mean by "flutter," but my DRRI makes a ticking noise in time with the speed of the tremolo. It's not loud enough to over-power the guitar, so I don't notice it while I'm playing, but it's very audible and would probably ruin a recording. I've read that other people have had the same problem. I called Fender a while back when I first got the amp and they said that it was normal; although I can't remember what they said caused it. I don't record with the amp and I don't often use the trem, so it's not a deal breaker for me, especially seeing as I picked the amp up used at a decent price.

I just got myself a DRRI on Friday.... brand new, out of the sealed box. I played it for the first time last night and noticed the same 2 issues you made mention of (ticking sounds when vibrato is on and popping sound w/ standby switch). Neither seems to affect the sound... this thing sounds incredible.

Thanks guys, Guess it is normal for the ticking noise. I don't notice it when I play and actually I just leave it dis-engaged, as I never use the vibrato anyway. I love this amp!!! I played thru it at a blues jam, at the Cove Lounge Sunday night. Everyone loved the tone of the amp! Thank-you to our friends here on the forum, for plugs and recommendations on this amp. Loving it!!! :D

I've never heard the popping sound when putting mine on standby, but I always turn my volume down first. Just an idea. 8)
