If I may suggest Eurotubes for your new tube set. Call them and tell them what you have (65DRRI) and what you want it to do...they will put a set together for you that should fit the bill. And they're not expensive ($120 for my new set, shipping included!)

They did this for me and my 63 Reissue Vibroverb, and the results were astounding...I was having similar problems as yours--no tone, just noise, no matter what I did. After the tube change--it was heaven again!

As far as biasing, they can help you on this, too. My amp was fixed bias, so I didn't have a problem; but a friend of mine (who turned me on to them) had to bias his amp, and they sent instructions...he's no electronics whiz and his turned out fine.

I've never used Eurotubes, but have heard good things about them.

I've always dealt with Mike K. at http://www.kcanostubes.com - email him with your amp, music style and budget and he'll give you some great choices. I particularly like the Mazda NOS 6V6 for my Princeton Reverb; I'm sure they'd be fine in your DR as well.

Hi Guys,
I actually went with dougstubes.com. Doug is a great guy and hooked me up with a nice set for around 115$ - JJ for rectifier, TungSol for 6v6, Jan Phillips for 12AT7, EHX for 12AX7s. Let me tell you what, this has made a big difference. I'm not complaining after this retube. Thanks for the help everyone! Also, the amp is louder too. Ears were ringing after my lunch break playing :).

The stock power tubes in both of my DRRI's were weak at best and left the amp with a bit too much bite, (harshness).

Lucky for me I have a ton of great old 6v6's and put some RCA's in mine and the whole world changed as far as tone and smoothness goes.

Sweet Fender Tube Bliss !!!!

I am about to put a set of the Tung-Sol RI 6V6GT's in one to check it out.
