I just received my tweed Blues Jr today and noticed a noise reminiscent of filament in a dead light bulb. None of the tubes make any sound when tapped and I noticed that the noise increases as I turn up the volume knob. Now if I crank the master and leave the volume on 2 or 3 there isn't any noise.. :?: I love the tones I'm getting from the amp but that damn noise is pretty overwhelming! Any help would be greatly appreciated!

It can only be a tube or tubes which have become slightly microphonic or rattly. There are dampers for that made of high temp silicon. Google tube dampers.

Try it out in different playing environments - especially if you've got single coil p/ups on your guitar.

That combination is sensitive to Fluorescent tubes, TVs, computer screens, (nylon carpets & slippers!), proximity to an electrical substation etc. Might even be worth trying it with a different guitar..

Good luck.

yeah, same here,
i was getting rattling sounds as you describe. i replaced the gt 6v6 with tungsol 6v6. one of my tubes was busted, however way louder now, still high pitch rattling sounds there.
i may have to replace the pre amp tube.

I`m by no means an expert on this but I had the same problem as you and I corrected it by going to the Bill M mod site, and on the left hand column scroll down to andopen the Phase Inverter Oscillation (new site). Try that its easy.If that don`t solve the problem try reseating your tubes or you could have a working tube thats going bad,or try switching the v1 with the v3 tube. V1 is farthest right looking at the back of the amp. Hope this helps.

It could very well be the preamp tube. I had the same sound coming from my Champion 600 and after a little research found out that Fender ships cheap preamp tubes in the new amps. So I got a new one and the sound was gone.

I'd send it back. It's a brand new amp.

I reseated all the tubes and swapped the V1 and V3 tubes and its still making that wonderful noise. With my head basically as close as it could get to tubes without burning it, It seems like it is the reverb tank making this noise. I plan on switching the stock out with a Ruby tank anyways so hopefully that is the source.. Oh and thanks alot for the responses!
