Nevin,
I know it wasn't on your list but take a look at the Fender SCXD. Great amp and tones of tone. I so love this amp. I am going to get a Blues Jr with the Tweed cabinet next but this amp is absolutely fantastic. I now refuse to buy anything more than 15 watts. I just feel like I am getting better tone and control with the smaller tube amps than i ever did with my big guns(Marshall JCM 900 and Peavey 65) Where in Canada are you from?

You mean you're from the "gap". My relatives from Manitoba put me onto that term.

Look at all the gappers, they said.
I said, huh?
Gappers. You know. From the gap.
I said, you mean from the store called GAP?
No, Saskatchewan. You know .... the gap.
I said, I still don't get it.
500 miles of nothing between Manitoba and Alberta.
I said, Oh, OK. Now I get it. Ha-ha.

Hey don't blame me, Nevin. I didn't come up with it. That's a Manitoba thing. They eat their nips on the Red while dissing gappers. I just laugh at the jokes.

Two fellows at an airport noticed an interesting looking traveler waiting in a lineup. They were both so curious as to where he was from, one of them finally approached the man and asked him.

"Saskatoon, Saskatchewan", the traveler told the fellow.

The fellow returned to his friend, and the friend asked "So, where did he say he was from?"

The fellow replied "I'm not sure, he didn't speak english."

most of those Driving Standards also apply to drivers (mainly soccer moms and college chicks) in Philadelphia, especially #12

An old fender champ is probably one of the best sounding and smallest amps in the world. 1k is a little steep but it will only increase in value. I had a line on one for about $500 with an extra jensen speaker and the original. That was about a year ago. I am sure you can find some deals on a good one. All you need is a guitar and a cord with a hot pickup and this amp will scream like no other without any pedals or anything. Its unbelievable.

I am quite happy with my Fender Blues Junior Texas Red Edition amp, but I have been wanting.... an even smaller amp.

I really like small tube amps and would like to buy another. Any recommendations? I mainly play clean... to a moderate overdrive. Country / Blues tone. I am not a metal head, so high gain is not a necessity.

Does anyone here own a '57 Champ? I would love to have that amp, but I am not about to spend 999.99 for it!

I guess I will just list out my options and you can rant away over them.

-57 Champ
-Champion 600
-Pro Junior
-Marshall Class 5

I am really unfamiliar with any other brands. I think Vox makes some pretty small amps. I always hear Orange Tiny Terror, but I am not really impressed with what I have heard (never played one)

I guess I am looking at 15 watts and under.

Suggest away!

PS (I love simplicity)

Not a Fender amp, but I'm really enjoying my Vox AC4TV right now. It has all the Vox roar but at a uesable home level. It has a 10" (Celestion) driver so suffers much less from boxy tone. Even better plugged into a seperate cab. You can't open it up all the way in a typical semi, without risking a neighbourly feud.

Also has a built in attentuator - changing 4watts down to 1 watt or even 1/4 watt. Strictly non master volume of course - you want distortion, you'll have to crank it and its power amp all the way.

Highly affordable..

Now that made me laugh. Good ole' Saskatchewan jokes. Its pretty easy when your cities are named Regina, Moose Jaw, Saskatoon...

Even Mick Jagger made jokes when they played in Regina.

Its damn hard to get good gear here.

Had to poke a bit of fun, being a Manitoban. At least you guys have a fairly consistent CFL team.

90 percent of people with Egnater Rebel 20 demos on youtube are terrible.

I haven't seen those demos but, I have played on one and can tell you it is the most versatile little amp I have ever heard. I'm definitely getting one. :D

It's because all the demos have people who either can't record properly or just crank the snot out of the gain. Most of the people who do the demos don't play very well either. Tone King on youtube can make anything sound awful.

Like I said, I've been playing for over 40 years and it's one of the best sounding amps I've ever owned and I've owned plenty.
Read the reviews and try one for yourself.

Mine's been rock solid and the tone for me is addicting. It's my new drug of choice. 8)

I think the Vox AC4TV is in the lead right now with me. Good sound for the price... could drive my Marshall cabinet if I wanted to... never had a vox product before.

Interesting... interesting...

Check out the Night Train, too, if you get the chance. More expensive than the AC4TV, but it's another great sounding amp. Proguitarshop.com has a great demo video of the Night Train, and several other amps as well. You get a much better idea of the sound than your average YouTube video, IMO.

+1 for Pro Guitar Shop.

Best gear demos, period. Andy knows a lot about musical gear and he certainly has the chops to back it up.
