Hi folks, i've got a frustrating problem with my Hot Rod Deluxe. The volume peaks suddenly and then goes back down to a normal state. Also, im having to turn up the volume slightly more every time i play just to keep it at the same loudness. The sound seems a bit 'flat' most of the time. Another problem is that whenever i use the overdrive channel it spontaneously switches from overdrive to more drive to clean without touching the switch. Can anyone help? Its driving me crazy!!

Thanks in advance!

Random channel switching is more than likely the 5 watt power resistors. If I remember correctly they are R78 and R79 on the PCB.

It's Justin Holtons old site. He describes all the HRDlx problems and repairs. The tube sockets also develop cold solder joints. In my case, they caused one of my power tube to work intermittently and lose power and headroom. Look in the back and see if both the power tubes are glowing. I could also be your power tubes too.
