Does anyone have any experience using these converters? Nick, I noticed that you mentioned them in a thread. I've thought about trying them for years, but I keep telling myself to just build an EL84 based amp. I'd appreciate any opinions and experiences about these converters. Art

I have not tried the Yellow Jackets, but sometime back I was considering so, and recall that there were some threads and opinions on them. You might try a search and you may get some good info. as a result.

RVM, thanks for the response. The comments I've read on other forums is pretty scant. I'll try to make a more diligent search. Art

I'm not sure about the Yellow Jacket name, I'll have to go out to the garage and check. I know they came in a Groove Tube package and convert 6L6 sockets to EL84's. I bought a set of two to calm down my '59 Bassman LTD. It is a pretty loud amp. They worked great till it was time to play a gig and I ended up re-installing the 6L6's. (I don't really like putting a mic in front of my amp) They work ok I guess, but they are now in their original box in my tube drawer. Maybe I will try them again at a later date with another amp. They are rather expensive for what they do. :)

Thanks Wolfman. The reviews that I found seem to favor their use in modern Fenders. The only review from a guy with an older Pro Reverb, was about as enthused as you. Since I was going to try them in a '68 Bassman, guess I'll pass on that idea. But my time wasn't completely wasted, found a good forum on the THD Univalve, been interested in those amps for a while.
