I'm putting this post here for others that had as difficult a time as me trying to figure out how to use the expression pedal feature of the Cyber-Twin. I went into many guitar stores and asked for "an expression pedal for a Cyber-Twin" I either got blank stares (i.e., they did not have a clue what I was talking about) or they went to the back and brought out a really cheap looking plastic Roland pedal for a keyboard.

The best solution that I found is to purchase an Ernie Ball volume pedal (I used the VP JR). Run a standard 1/4" instrument cable from the OUTPUT socket on the pedal to the EXPRESSION PEDAL jack in the back of the amp. Leave the rest of the jacks on the pedal empty. This works perfectly on my Cyber-Twin SE.

The model I have has a small switch to change the taper of the sweep to be more linear if needed.

well, there is no such thing, so there's no surprise when they looked at you funny when you insisted.

from the cyber commander SE manual, page 136:

An analog expression pedal is nothing more than a foot controlled potentiometer (or variable resistor). Potentiometers are mechanical devices with a resistive track and a wiper blade making contact with the resistive track. That’s how you get variable resistance. The problem is that these tracks wear out with time and use: the resistive track gets dirty and worn. This can cause momentary high impedance.

The CT manual recommends that the analog expression pedal potentiometer span the range from 10,000 Ohms to 250,000 Ohms, with an audio taper of 20,000 Ohms at the 25% range point. In our tests, we have not found any analog expression pedals that met these specifications.

Some expression pedals offer an “adjustment potentiometer”. This is very misleading because the pedal will not span the entire range, only a small segment of it. The only thing that the “adjustment potentiometer” does is move the entire range up and down. You will end up playing with the adjustment potentiometer to find the range you want to control, but ultimately dissatisfied with the total range. The typical result is that the analog expression pedals never span the full range.

MIDI Continuous Controllers use digital up-down counters, they do not use potentiometers. As a result, they never drop out or misbehave. In all of our tests, MIDI Continuous Controllers spanned the entire range, in 128 discrete steps, and delivered the required full range performance without one drop out. One such MIDI controller is Fender’s Foot Controller (FC). In all of our tests, the Fender FC provided consistent and reliable performance, with the full range of control, program select, tuner, effects by-pass, master volume and effects control pedals. We therefore recommend that MIDI Continuous Controllers be used instead of analog controllers, and Fender’s FC in particular.

ciao,
johnny.

Just checked the Cyber-Twin SE Manual and to my surprise I found that the "Expression Pedal" Illustration on page 12 looks strikingly similar to an EB VP JR. Also I missed some verbage in the manual that says the expression pedal is "compatible with any passive
volume pedal, 10k to 250k ohm, (ideal audio taper is 20k 25%)".

you are on your own to find a compatible one. yes it looks like a boss pedal, but unfortunately, it's not too compatible.

Your comment is a little confusing. I stated that the manual shows an illustration of an Ernie Ball VP JR pedal. I have this pedal and it works perfectly as an expression pedal with the Cyber Twin SE. One only needs to plug the output from the volume pedal into the expression pedal jack on the Cyber-Twin.

No one mentioned a BOSS pedal.

I used a Ernie Ball volume pedal
http://guitars.musiciansfriend.com/product/Ernie-Ball-6166-Mono-Volume-Pedal?sku=152103 with my original CT Ver 1.3, it acted as either a volume pedal, and I had it assigned as a wah pedal.
