I was just wondering, I'd like to tighten the bottom end of my scxd. Would I be able to achieve this by replacing the stock 6V6 groove tubes?

It just seems like theres too much slop when palm muting. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.

Oh, for what its worth I'm running the speaker out to a 1x12 closed cab. Don't care for the stock 10" spesker.

I hope that this doesn't not come out in a bad way , but it sounds more like a playing technique issue rather than tubes. What kind og guitar are you using? This might help with advice we can give.

I noticed it when I was playing my Explorer dropped down a half step. But I think that might have been part of the problem. When I tuned it to standard tuning, it seemed to tighten up a bit. Aside from that I installed some Ruby tubes in it and that seemed to make a difference as well.

Plus, I think the 12" speaker I have in my cab finally starting to really break in. Its still somewhat new.

But I'm hoping its not my playing style. I've been playing all types of rock and metal for 20 years.

Thanks for responding. :D

Yeah, 6V6's are known for that flabby bottom end response. That combined with the Explorer, detuning, and the 12" speaker could certainly bring out that characteristic. Some amps are voiced to avoid that, such as the Deluxe Reverb. Other amps join an EL84 power section to compensate, like the Mesa and Egnator. I guess you could shop around for a tighter sounding 6V6 duet or run the tubes a little colder. But it seems for everything you gain on an amp, you lose something else. Art
