Although I really loved my Blues Junior (and I'll surely miss it), I've wanted this amp for a while and decided to get rid of some gear to finance the purchase. The smidgen of my tax return not going towards bills put me in buying range. I just picked it up today.

Thanks guys!!!

I'm really glad that I decided to go with the Sahara. It's a huge step up from the blues jr and it compliments my DRRI nicely. This amp has a very unique voice; dark, but clear (very un-Fender). It breaks up early and the touch response makes it feel somewhat like a 5e3-type amp. It's plenty loud and the breakup is unbelievably smooth. It takes pedals way better than the DRRI and it loves both my strat and P90 LP.

Lifetime warranty from Zinky, too, which is nice. Brice Zinky is a great guy as well. I emailed him before I bought the amp and he got back to me the next day, answering all of my questions and giving me some good advice; a perfect example of small company customer service.

I just wish that my wife didn't have a migraine right now so that I could be playing it instead of quietly cruising the internet. Been looking forward to playing all day...

Oh well, it's not going anywhere... :)

I don't know much about Zinky amps, but I sure do like that one. I'm gonna look them up. That's my kind of amp: low wattage, early breakup, huge tone.

Hollis,

There isn't a ton of information on the Zinky site (http://www.zinky.com) or the Supro site (http://www.suprousa.com) about their amps, other than brief descriptions. Do a search on TGP (the Gear Page) or through Google and you'll find some good info.

Zinky's are about as reasonably priced as boutique amps come, and they definitely deliver the tone.

Sounds awesome! I was just A/B-ing it with my DRRI earlier and it's similar and different, both in a good way. It sounds similar to the normal channel of the DRRI, but with a lot more bass/mid/treble available; a very meaty sounding amp.

The controls are volume, treble, bass, and mids, and I have never encountered another amp with such "effective" tone controls. A slight turn of the knob results in a dramatic change in tone. There is a huge range of tone available. Another interesting thing about the tone controls is that they second as volume controls. With all of the tone controls at zero the amp will be silent, even with the volume knob maxed. But as you bring up each knob it will raise the volume of that frequency, which leads to some really cool and unique tones. With such simple controls, I though that it would be plug and play, but I'm finding that the controls are so effective that there is a multitude of sounds to be discovered with this thing.

And it LOVES pedals. It has eaten up everything I've thrown at it; wah, chorus, delay, compressor, OD, vibe. At speaking volumes, ODs sound amazing. Now I just need to find a killer reverb pedal that can come close to the deluxe's reverb and I'll be all set; my verbzilla just isn't doing it for me.
