Hi.

I recently won a Super Champ XD and a Vibro Champ XD off ebay.
The reverb setting on the Super Champ sounds like a vibrato. I powered off and on , and checked to make sure the knob was put on correctly.

(the reverb on the Vibro Champ sounds fine - just like a reverb)

Before I send the Super Champ back, is there anything else I can check ?

Ohh, and if it matters, I do not have the footswitch.

TIA

The only thing I can think of is that the knob is secured as it should be, but the pot itself may be a little loose and the whole thing is turning instead of changing settings. Does it click into place, or is the movement kinda smooth? If you can, remove the knob and see if the retainer nut needs tightened.

That's probably the best. Especially if the fact the switch problem was not mentioned in the ad, that constitutes fraud if he knowingly sold it to you with a bad switch. The guy would be a fool not to refund your money.

i'm a tad worried he won't refund especially the $19.66 it cost me to return the unit, but he has 100% positive feedback.
he sounded pretty angry about the whole deal in his last message

and get this, I still want a SuperChamp XD so I looked for another one on ebay, and found he has relisted his exact same auction !
one with a footswitch and no cable - could he have 2 missing a footswitch cable ?

I mailed it out to him yesterday, so he doesn't even have it yet !!!

this whole problem started because he only had a few single sheets of thin bubble wrap - which did not protect the knobs

i could see that the effects selector was offset and when i pushed it in a bit then the reverb worked

i put in some styrofoam to protect the knobs - the whole time asking myself why am i doing this ?

anyway, as soon as i sell my vibrochamp i am going to put that money towards a brand spanking new superchamp xd
