Hi captain, this is a static type of sound? I would make sure that all of the tubes are fully seated in their sockets and that the speaker plug is also secure. It could be that one of the tubes is faulty, unfortunately this is quite common. If you have some good spares, I'd try substituting the various tubes. But since the amp is new, it might be better to have the seller take care of the problem. Art

thanks for the response. i played around with it and realize it only makes the gurguling sound when the reverb is turned past 2 and then i turn off the standby switch. the gurguling gets louder as the reverb is turned up. is this normal?

No, that's not normal at all ! I'm guessing V3 or V4 is causing the noise. But I think you should return the amp, unless you paid for a gurguling model. Really, it's absurd that you should have to mess around with a new amp. I think it's a reasonable expectation, that the amp performs in a satisfactory manner. Art

I agree with Aclempoppi, sounds like a faulty tube, the most common problem, and very easy to fix.
Check with your dealer, but I'm pretty sure your tubes are waranteed for 90 days. The amp itself has a 5 year warantee, but tubes are 'consumables' like strings, so they only get a short one. Your dealer should happily find and replace the dying tube for you, at no cost.

It won't take long to fix. They're a great amp, you're gonna enjoy it.

thanks again for the replies...

i called and talked to the place and salesmen that sold it to me. i was really nice over the phone and he was not very helpful...he told me they are not a repair shop and told me to call fender...he then proceeded to tell me that tube amps need maintenance.

i told him i know that but i just bought the amp from you five weeks ago...can't i bring it in and check and see if it is the reverb tube? he said they do have tubes at the store but that what i need to do is call fender and quote "we are not a repair shop".

i don't have a problem with contacting fender and using the waranty but it seems to me that he could have at least said bring it in and we can switch out the reverb tube. and then if that is not the problem then i would contact fender.

but he seemed annoyed that i called and wouldn't do anything for me.

oh well i wont ever go back there. and it wasn't guitar center.

he definately lost future business since i will be buying either a either gibson les paul traditional, a 57 hot rod strat, 62 hot rod strat, 52 hot rod tele, or a 62 tele in a few months for my birthday.

well i will call fender on monday.

sheesh, there's no need for him to be that unhelpful. surely as a fender dealer he could get the amp to fender for you, or to their nearest repair centre, isn't that part of his job?
There are so many a-holes in the music industry, it's amazing they stay in business...
