Hey Surf, that should be a real nice set up, and that stand alone reverb unit will be great with the Twin. If it's ok, I'll share a couple of anecdotes: after years of using an old Twin Reverb in a blues band, I decided to switch to a Matchless Clubman 35. Well, the first time I used it, I was intimidated by it's depth and clarity(never use pedals). Thought to myself, man this is way better than I can justify playing. But it really forced me to up my playing skills. Any way that amp was the best thing for me and it helped upgrade my contribution to the band. I'm gonna bore you with something that just happened. The lead guitarist from that blues band called me night before last, wanting me to bring my '72 Guild F48 over to do some acoustic playing along with our friend(a finger-picking, Collings, swing blue grass player). Seems he had just recieved his latest Taylor, a custom built one from their "R" shop. He said he wanted to do some comparisons. But he also said this guitar was intimidating, that's how balanced and clear it sounds. He told me that the guitar is so far beyond his talent, it's scary. Now this is a very talanted, A-type personallity guy who sneers at confrontations(plays PRS's & Badcats). So you can see, Surf, this happens to a lot of us lucky musicians. Keep pickin' ! Art

Good post. My first venture into tube amps was an Epi Valve Junior, which made me such a better player because my playing had nowhere to hide. What came from my fingertips was magnified by the amp; very articulated. I became more aware of my playing and, as a result, played better. I've since incorporated even more articulate amps into my arsenal (DRRI, BJ), which has made me "up my skills" even more.

As long as you aren't using the 57 twin as a door stop, you definitely deserve to own it.

Hey Surf, I'm going to trample on your thread. You know DJV, that attitude of "no where to hide" is really good to hear. As much as I love the electric guitar sounds, I've always been driven by the acoustic guitar. I realise that not all of us players can own both, but I will continue to advocate the stance that: If we keep up our acoustic playing, it will give us the ability to really express ourselves on the electric. It just seems like a grounding source. Writing songs seem to flow from the acoustc and the piano, so much easier than the electric. Doesn't count for much, but it sure has worked for me. Of course a new pedal may be just the impetus needed for your new piece of music. Keep Pickin' Art
