I love the Bassman. It does everything I want. BUT... local dealer offered to sell me 57 Twin for 1500. Just 100 more than the Bassman. I play surf, rock, and hope to blues it up someday. No metal. Any advice?

this offer is very interesting, no doubt but you must choose depending on the sound you really want

I 've never seen such prices for brand new twin amp 57 EXCEPT FOR USED ONES are you sure it doesn't hide some issue?

IT's up to you but as far as I 'm concerned , now I would keep my BLUES DELUXE for it's tolerable, I mean not too loud I think the twin amp 57 IS ONLY PLAYABLE VERY LOUD!

maybe it's a good BARGAIN TAKE IT IF YOU CAN PLAY LARGE VENUES AND CRANK IT

I COULDN't for I only play in small places and cafes and lounges don't want too noise anylonger!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

The 57 Twin is 40 watts. It's very manageable. I'd jump on that in a New York minute. :D

The low power Twins are glorious tone machines. My 76 Twin really messed up my hearing.

the local guy here is pretty cool. He always has a good deal for someone. He knows I'm not a great player, but he hooked me up with a 63 reverb RI for about 400 new. He told me the Twin had be sitting for a year and just needs to find a home and hes too lazy to ebay it. They deal a lot of Collings (sp) and I think they do a lot of Fender but it isn't his moneymaker.

I'm leaning towards buying it. It just seems too good to pass up. Now I'll be THAT guy though... nice guitar, nice amp, no skills.

I suppose at 1500 I can trade it for a Bassman in the future if I get buyers remorse. Need to decide fast before someone snags it.

I own a 57 twin reissue and have owned a 59 Bassman reissue. For that price,no question go for the Twin.It is an awesome amp.The Bassman is ok but very bright and piercing...it can be harsh on your audience in a live situation. The Twin is a lot smoother and musical....you can actually use the treble and presence controls on it whereas with the Bassman it gets really too much when they are turned up.The Twin is point to point wired and uses better quality components which explains why it has a more musical tone.I crank my Twin to 8 to get the power tubes overdriving and I get that Keith Richards tone.I simply place a gig bag or two in front of the amp and another in back to somewhat muffle the sound where I'm still getting that awesome tone but not killing my audience or my drummer.I have done this now for almost 2 years,5 nights a week and this works great for 99% of the bars I play in.
