of your three choices, I'd pick the blues jr. great for small pubs and blues jams. I just tried a 65 princeton reverb, which has excellent tone, same wattage, more money though. Then the 65 deluxe reverb 22watt, is another excellent amp. The jr. served me well for the past couple years and I recieved great complements on my tone, but after tryin' out the deluxe reverb, I decided to up-grade to the deluxe, as the tone is even better, actually much better. For half the price, the jr. is an excellent choice. good luck, dutch. :)

Vox AC15. The Blues Jr sounds real boxy to me and the Epi is just eh and a bit boxy too. I would save some more money and bump it up to a DRRI.

None of the mentioned amps will give you that sound. You need to look at either a peavey classic 30 or a Marshall would be a better choice.I think all of the forementioned bands played thru marshalls. You will never get those tones out of a blues jr.

You do need to add Marshall to the list. You just ain't gonna get that type of sound from a Fender.

If you want to stick with Fender, you may want to check out the Super champ XD. There are many tones you can achieve with it.

Keep in mind that Slash used Marshalls, but Izzy preferred to use Fender amps.

i considered a marshall the haze 40 but i guess its too loud for a really small 10 by 10 room. Or do you think its going to have a nice tone at really low volume???

Try a Marshall Class 5. My Egnater Rebel 20 can mimic those tones and a lot more plus you can dial it down to a watt.

I agree that the Egnator might be the way to go. I'd really like to try one out one of these days. But unfortunately I can't afford any new toys right now.

However, my SCXD works very well with pedals. I just bought a Modtone Speedbox distortion pedal that dials in some 80's tones very well. I also use a Ibanez TS-9 for some nice overdriven tones. Its great for 70's rock. I also use a Boss MT-2 for the heavier stuff. The SCXD is really a good amp for the price.

I heard the Marshall Haze is nice, but it falls short if your looking for a heavy overdriven Marshall tone.

I don't think the Class 5 even has "gain" knob. All you get is a vol, Treb.,Mid and Bass. So you might need pedals for this one.

I think Marshall just released a new 50 watt valve combo and head for around $700 that might be worth checking out. That might be way to loud for your needs, but it seems to have all the bells and whistles that a Marshall should have.

Blackstar is also another amp option as well.

Admittedly I have never tried any of the aformentioned amps, besides the Blues Jr.

If it helps at all I can proudly say that my tolex Blues Jr NOS is the finest amp I've ever owned. The tones that it puts out are simply beautiful, and it's simplicity kind of gives it an elegance of it's own.

Sit down with all 3 amps at a shop and see which works best for you. Everyone has a different tone they're looking for. It all really comes down to your personal taste.
