Does anybody know when the FM212R was manufactured. It seems to have been replaced by the FM212DSP. Is the current Frontman 212R a re-badged version of the rrevious FM212 (i.e 212R)?

not sure on the years, but the dsp isn't a replacement for the r model. the dsp just adds effects. if you have pedals or stompboxes, the r is good. if you prefer to have built in effects, the dsp is a good way to go.

Cool, thanks. Does that mean the 212R is still in production? I got hold of one second hand but have only seen the DSP versions and the fronman for sale new. I prefer the 212R because it has no on-board effects.

Both still in production. Take a look right here at Fender.com at "Products" then "Amps" (right at the top of this page next to the Fender logo in screen left top corner)

I've heard and read nothing but good reviews on the 212R (and 212DSP). I'm planning on getting the 212R, myself...maybe tonight!

I have the 25DSP and had contemplated getting 100 watt version, the 212DSP, but find the 212R to be closer to a Fender Twin Amp, only without the tubes, of course…and at over $1800.00 less, too! Do a side by side comparison. Both have 100 watts into 4 ohms output. Both have spring reverb. Both have two channels (normal and drive), yet the 212R has a “more drive” option, as well. They are almost the same size, too. Sure, it ain’t a tube, but for the price, I’d say it’s a hellava deal. If you can afford it, go ahead and get the 100 watt over the 65 watt, too! If you don’t, you may always think, “Hmmm, sure this is loud…but what if I had two 100 watt speakers…”
