I would keep the Bassman and save for a low-watt amp, either an older Fender Champ, Reeves Custom 6, or a Dr. Z Mini Z. You can then run those amps on their own, or plug your 4x10 Bassman speakers into them. Avoid the Hot Rod series - not a good trade. The Deluxe Reverb is a good option, but if you only play at home that may be too loud. I practice at home with a 12 watt Princeton and that fills the room up very well - more than 12-20 watts for home use is overkill.

You can buy an attenuator, which will take your Bassman output and dial it down before it hits the speakers. I've had good luck with Dr. Z's Brake Lite, which mounts inside your amp and lets you cut your volume back substantially. $179 at most dealers. Here's a review:

Another thought - Smokey amps are a lot of fun - they come in either a cigarette carton or a clear plastic enclosure. not a lot of watts, but they can drive your 4x10 speakers into breakup at low volumes. I carry one now in my gig bag at all times as a "backup" amp. Surprisingly good tone for the $25 price, and cheap gig insurance vs. carrying another amp.

+1 on the attenuator idea.

If I wanted to trade my bassman for the DRRI should I also ask for some cash? And if so, how much you think, all things being equal.

I used to have a Fender Sidekick 25 I bought in 1987 with my first guitar, but it got stolen in about 1990 and I pretty much forgot about it. The post about the Frontman 25 made me remember, it was a nice little amp. I check on Ebay for a Sidekick so to remember what it looked like, and there was one for sale for $99. Funny thing is, the seller is in San Jose, which is where I lived when the amp was stolen. Could be my old amp lol.

I have a solid state amp, but would really like a low watt tube amp. Wish I had the cash to keep the Bassman and buy a '57 champ or something similar.

I have some THD yellowjackets that came with the Bassman, anyone how they would sound on the reverb deluxe? Wonder how much it would drop the watts.
