Which do you guys prefer?
I have a Bassman but it's too much amp for me. I'm just a home player. Someone has a Cyber-twin for trade on Craigslist, he'll also throw in some cash. That would probably work better around the house.

Or I'm thinking of selling the bassman and just getting a small low watt tube amp.

Bassman. I just don't like modeling/ bells and whistle amps. I tried the CT and it just sounded eh to me. Some folks love them. I'm just a plug and play kind of person.

I am with Supro on this one.Maybe its because I have a Bassman or maybe its because I dont like the modelling amps either.I do know the Bassman moves alot of air.You might want to check out another amp for home use if the bassman is truly too much.I like the Deluxe Reverb. Its 22 watts and quite manageable at home. There are others out there too, Egnater, vox and a host of others.Good luck.

I'm a cyber-twin owner ( for over 6 years ).
Although I like it, I do not hesitate to agree with the majority here.
Keep the bassman or go for the low powered tube amp. My next amp will be all tube & low powered.
If you get a cyber-twin now, you've come late to the party & the cyber-twin party is almost over.
I predict that Fender's next generation of amps is going to raise the bar too high for the current CT to continue being sold.

I'm another one that says keep the Bassman. If you get rid of an amp like that, you'll never forgive yourself. I think you'll be a lot happier keeping it and saving up, if necessary, for a good lower-wattage amp, too. There are several great-sounding, low-wattage tube amps on the market now. Not to mention, as was pointed out above, the Bassman does move a lot of air, which has a lot to do with its perceived loudness. A smaller amp, with a single 8, 10, or 12 won't move nearly as much air, so it won't seem as loud. Plus, you have a great excuse to try out a bunch of new amps. I have one of the 5-watt Crate amps, but I hesitate to recommend it because I spent as much on the speaker as I did on the amp. It sounded like trash with the stock speaker. I had a Blues Jr., and it was a good amp. So is the Pro Jr., but they aren't really cheap. I like VOX's little 4-watter that dials down to 1/4 watt, and I can't wait to get my paws on the new 5-watt Marshall. You can still find a few silverface Champs on e-bay at reasonable prices, sometimes, too. Just food for thought.

I ended up keeping the Bassman. I have a guy that wants to trade me a Hot Rod Deluxe and $500 for the Bassman though. I only paid $400 for the Bassman, so it would be like getting $100 and a free amp. But I don't know if I'm going to do it or not.
I haven't ever played thru a hot rod deluxe so don't know how they are.

I just wish I was a better player, then I could really put the Bassman to good use. But I just play at home, and can't really get it too loud. My wife works from home and is on the phone a lot, and neighbors aren't too guitar friendly, although they might not mind as much if I was a better player lol.

Have you considered a deluxe reverb? Its a great amp and you can gig with it or play it at home. You know we all started out playing at home.I wouldnt get discouraged, maybe the bassman is an amp you can grow into eventually .

Well, I've been playing since 1987, off and on, and just can't get past a certain level, so I keep plugging away at it.

Someone offered to trade me a 65 deluxe reissue and a little bit of cash, or the amp and some pedals, but was talking to the other guy about the hot rod deluxe so passed on the DRRI. He emailed me again the other day and said the offer was still on the table if I was interested.

The Deluxe Reverb RI and the Bassman are top of the line amps. The Hot Rod Deluxe is a mid-line amp and is of questionable quality. It is also loud. For less juice, the DRRI would be better. Many threads have verified this. (How'd I do, Soupie?)

You won't be getting a free amp, you'll be getting a huge headache and you'll need the hundred bucks for repair bills on the HRDlx. Keep the Bassman or get a DRRI.
