Has anyone been in the situation where you want an amp that'll be quiet enough to play at College dorms, and loud enough so when you take it out it sings like Shirley Bassey (wonderfully)?

I love tweed amps, so does anyone know what the blues junior is like in college life?

Thanks!

I've had this exact problem. I'd suggest a 5 to 25 watt tube unit, and really just try out a bunch of amps in store and see. The Vibro Champ XD should fit the bill, if you are doing only small gigs. Maybe the Super Champ XD would be better, or maybe a Deluxe Reverb, but that may be a bit loud. Just limit it to 30 watts and try out as many as you can in your price range.

Then of course theres the issue of what features you want, but the XDs and the Deluxe should have what you need. The Champ 600 is a good one too, but too quiet in my opinion. Another option is getting a speaker cabinet.

If you can find a Peavey Classic 20 get it. 15W ( I know, it's called a Classic 20) Master, Gain, Treble, Mid, Bass, 10 inch Jensen. Loud as hell for a little amp. Breaks up early, not a lot of clean headroom. Cool tweed cover. Looks like a little Fender. Acts like a little Marshall. Great blues/classic rock tone. People tend to keep em once they buy one, so there's not a lot out there. If you can find one it's worth the $300.
