First, I would like to thank everyone that posted replies in my threads regarding my search for a new amp.

I purchased a Deluxe Reverb Reissue today! This thing sounds phenomenal. It is very dynamic and sounds great with my American Standard Strat.

Instead of creating a new thread, I'll post my question in this one. I am looking for an overdrive pedal. My main influences include John Mayer and Mark Knopfler. I am looking for that smooth and creamy lead tone. I have been looking at the Hermida Zendrive/Zendrive 2, Fulltone OCD and the Full Drive 2. The Zendrive sounds nice but I'm not sure I can wait over two months for one. I am going to try out the other two tomorrow. Which overdrive pedal do you guys recommend?

That's an outstanding guitar and amp combination. Congrats and enjoy.

I'm a Fulltone fan and I own both an OCD and a Full-Drive 2 MOSFET. I love them both but I would choose the Full-Drive 2 if I could only have one. I like all the different overdrive options and settings and the Boost channel puts it over the top for me.

But that's just my opinion... you're going to try them so let us know which one you prefer. :)

John

Analogman Silver modded TS9 (or OD9 - true bypass); very transparent overdrive.

MI Audio Blues Pro - more gain available than TS9, full bottom end, cleans up nicely with volume knob, fuzz switch.

Love the white on white strat with the maple fretboard. Gotta get me one of those...

Thank you all for your kind words and suggestions! I ended up purchasing the Fulltone OCD. I tried out a few pedals including the Maxon OD808 but left with this one.

I would like to ask one more question about the Deluxe Reverb Reissue. What role does each preamp tube play in shaping the amp's sound? I apologize if this question is a bit vague. For example, what does the preamp tube in the third slot control?

awesome equipment!

congrats! May you get years & years of pure tonal bliss from that combination! That is a real nice tube amp there!

here's my fav in that overdrive arena:

http://www.buyanalogman.com/ProductDeta ... 08-Reissue

another cool thing you can have fun experimenting with that alot of people never consider with htat amp:
(not to say it would totally sub for an OD pedal, but FUN nevertheless)

crank that amp volume to 6-9, but first, turn your guitar volume down (I also find that this works best with using the neck pickup or if u have a strat with taht s-1 switch or button- - engage or depress it).
then u can use your guitar to really change up. guitar at 2-3 = nice kinda clean. guitar at 4-5 = nice blues tone. guitar at 6 to 7 = nice cream tone
ALSO, when doing this, watch you bass levels on the amp!
have fun ~

Awesome, I just bought one myself and am loving it.It keeps my Bassman in the closet now.Mostly because I have a bad back and the venues are getting smaller for now.It covers alot of tonal territory and what i once had a choice between taking my blues jr of my bassman, now I can take my drri and not have any worries.

Such an awesome amplifier right there. Congrats on the purchase. I would suggest the OCD or Fat Boost to stick in front of it. Something warm and smooth so it won't rip your ears off with high end.

Excellent choice! The OCD sounds great and is built like a tank.

Enjoy!
