Can you change out the cheap looking red light on this amp and replace with a fender jewel housing kit?

I'm also interested in this one. I think a jewel light would look WAY cool on the little BJ.

Art might know for sure. It looks like an LED. You'd probably have to do some drilling and make sure you have the proper voltage for the jewel light. On the amp layout, it looks like they use leads instead of wiring the LED right to the board. I don't really know though.
That's funny, I never really cared about the jewel light. Some people change the color to blue or whatever. I usually just care about what something sounds like rather than it's looks. Whatever floats yer boat. :D

i heard there isn't enough room for the jewel light assembly inside the chassis. apparently those buggers take up some decent space. truthfully, this is the case with the pro jr, maybe the BJ has some room to offer.

That's a real possibility. The only way to know for sure is to take a look. On the board layout, the LED looks like it has fairly long leads, but I've never had the back off a Blues Jr. Still doesn't mean there's enough room.

I was interested in doing this to mine also.....I have also done all the BillM mods, including the 6v6 conversion and also converted mine into a head unit. For the LED, I was interested in a Jewel light as well, but didnt want to go through figuring out how to raise the voltage, so until BillM comes out with that as a mod kit ;) I just ordered a 5mm Blue LED and Bezel from pedalpartsplus.com. They have great prices and customer service, super fast shipping also. I am super satisfied with the Blue LED now. Hope this helps!

PS - I have my old Blues junior cabinet on ebay right now as I dont need it any more after converting my amp to the head unit. This would be great for someone to build a matching BJ speaker extension cabinet or DIY amp project. Check it out, it ends Monday!
Thanks!

Okay...here's what you do. Buy a genuine Fender red jewel light. With a flat, round sanding or grinding unit of some kind, grind off the threading. I stuff a small bit of cloth or paper towel up into the inside top of the jewel to protect the glass from the metal filings. Use glasses and you may need some pliers to hold the jewel against the grinder because of the heat. Apply silicon glue carefully to the bottom of the jewel and also a small bit up into the inside as well. The silicon glue adheres to the chrome plate but will come off later without damaging the chrome if needed. Carefully position the jewel light over top on the existing LED light and allow to dry. Mine has been in place for several years now without coming off. ...BTW... you must use red or clear. Other colors do not work very well. I am very happy with this simple mod and so are other BJ users I have given a modified jewel. It takes less than 15 minutes.

If you are talking about a real fender jewel light, with a light bulb instead of an LED, then no. Not only will the real thing not fit in the space, the voltage will be wrong for the light bulb, you would have to tap in on the filament supply somewhere on the circuit board, bypassing the LED circuit.

I am talking about the jewel light only. Not the bulb. The jewel light fits nicely on top of the red LED and red on red shines through.

Hi Cboyd1954,

My post was directed to the OP, who asked "replace with a fender jewel housing kit?" I didn't realize that you had resurrected a year old post.
