I have a Fulltone OCD v.3 that I use on my trri and it sounds fantastic. There have been alot of great recommendations so far and you really couldn't go wrong with any of them, so it boils down to what sound appeals to you.
Good luck.

try a boss mt-2 metal zone,i was looking for a good pedal to go in front of my hrdlx,i tried a lot and the best was a mt-2,into channel 1 i found was great,i could have my clean then hit pedal for a great marshall stack sound with a little tweaking!

A Metal Zone for blues? Not my taste... there are many good pedal suggestions here, but the Boss Blues Driver is actually a pretty good sounding pedal.
Another thought: replace the stock speaker with a Celestion Vintage 30. I'm amazed at how much better the drive channels sound with the speaker replaced. I love my pedals, but the drive channels are usable with the V30

The MT-2 has a wide range of tones. Back off the distortion and you can get a blues and rock feel. Increase it more and you get hard rock and a metal tone. The low or bass control is insane, it sounds like i'm playing bass guitar when I crank it up. And a cool addition is the mid. and mid frequence controls. This pedal has a huge range of tone you can get.

I had the Ibanez TS9 for years and before that it was the Boss overdrive. I am now using the Ibanez TS808 Tube Screamer. I highly recommend it.

I have a Blues Deluxe so I guess it would be similar to the HRD. The TS808 response-relationship for this kind of amp is awesome. But then again, I find this line of amp to be very pedal friendly. Another suggestion would be a very transparent booster pedal. To help liven up the sound a bit and push the tubes too. :)

Hi all.
Thanks again for all your suggestions.
Well in the end I opted for the Boss BD-2 Blues Driver. Not to everyones taste I gather but in this instance I find it seems to give me what I was looking for. I have not used this amp in a larger venue other than my home so I have yet to find if this set up is final.
Having changed the tubes to various configurations and settled for JJ Tesla's. I find playing my deluxe strat with the higher output pickups seems to sound OK. I had also read that some people thought that changing the speaker had made a difference and also some had reverted back to the original. This seems quite an expense to be dissapointed like that.!
