I'm wondering what you opinion is on the DeVille and Deluxe

e.g Which has better overdrive/clean sound,
which has better tone, etc...

Personally i like the DeVille better :D

The Deville gives you that classic Fender tone,
but it's more rounded on the edges....very nice on the ears.
The Deluxe beaks up a little earlier but it's still Fendery all the way,
yet it just has more immediate grit.

Yeah, pretty much that.

the deville is alot louder, and has much more depth due to having more speakers than the deluxe

I have a DeVille 410. Like the sound much better than the DeVille 212. And it is powerful!
I've only played a Deluxe briefly at a music store, but I'd imagine that if you need to play over a full band go with the DeVille. If you want to jam in your home or play open mic sort of stuff, go with the Deluxe. The DeVille does sound fuller because of the power and speakers. The Deluxe is a bit thinner. But if you are not blowing the walls off, the Deluxe might actually sound better distorted at low volume. The DeVille all the way around sounds better clean.

The more speakers the bigger the sound (apparent volume). I had the 212 and I loved it. The clean sound was superb, the drive channel ok, and forget the 'more drive'. Get the Deville for a roomier sound with more oomph.

I have had both and found the Deluxe to be brighter and in overdrive breaks up more than the Deville. The DeVille is smoother and gives you a lot of that great Fender tone, good for a lot of different genres of music.

Neither one is the "classic" Fender tone. You need to try a DRRI, Super Reverb, Bassman ect. for the classic Fender tone. The HRD sound IMO is new and way different. That's why I bought one in the first place. The HRDlx is like an icepick in the forehead unless you do at least some tube changes. Mine was also seriously unreliable. I sold it.

When pushed the Deville can be a very sweet sounding amp with ample gain but it is very loud when you crank it. Had a '96 Blues Deville which I took to a jam as a spare amp. As the night progressed and people started getting louder there were two guys plugged into my Deville and I had never heard it sound so good. Thought maybe it was in their hands but when it came time to load up the gear I noticed they had dimed it. Every knob cranked all the way. I had never done that before. If you can handle a lot of decibels the Deville will really please.

The Deluxe? Not so much. More drive is totally useless. When you push the amp it farts and flabs out. Slight breakup is harsh sounding. Clean is not round and smooth. Not a good amp IMO.
