this is kind of a follow up to my recent thread about stock speakers. i wanted to make this a separate topic for organizational purposes.

i was looking at the "Weber Menu" and fell off my chair when i saw these Signature series speakers going for $30-40 new. if i were to go through with it, i'd probably get the "S" style since i'm not looking for early breakup. i'd also probably go ceramic instead of alnico, simply because i want the better power handling and articulation, and again, the later breakup. but i can make that decision later.

i was wondering though...really how worthy an upgrade could a speaker this cheap prove to be? i'm beginning to really believe you get what you pay for. for instance, i toyed around with the notion of sticking a weber ceramic signature 10S in a Pro Jr. that has the stock brown label ceramic eminence.
i'm looking to answer questions such as "will it breakup smoother? no, not like an alnico, but will it be more pleasing than what the stock spkr can do?"
"furthermore, will the weber signature ceramic take being pushed hard and loud better than the stock spkr does?"
"will it have less or more treble/mids/bass?"
"will it provide more or less volume/power?" (i couldn't find sensitivity ratings btw. the wattage is the same, 25 watts for ceramic)

(recall i'm using this amp at gig volumes. probably my biggest request for any speaker is to not fart out when i push it. so i've been trying to find out if these Sig. speakers will fit the bill)

part of me has a hunch that the change might be minimal, but what do i know? it just seems too easy with a price like that.

anybody have experience with the weber sig. series? is it worth giving it a try, or is it just a waste of $30. should i just save up for something else?

i might ask the weber people, but i'm more of a "consumer reports" kind of guy.
