Hey Cats........... I know i have the wrong make of amp for this forum but
You lot seem to know your stuff. I have a Peavey Envoy 110 with a single
10 inch speaker rated at 4 ohms. Now i would like to ad another speaker cab
with another 10 inch in it , now if its rated at 4 ohms as well and i wire it
in parallel would it still be a total load of 4 ohms and will the amp be ok .
is my math right in thinking that a 4ohm and 4ohm load in parallel equals
4 ohms and in series is 8 . thaks for the help ............

Two 4 ohm loads in parallel will yield 2 ohms, and in series will yield 8 ohms. Here is a link to the eminence web site that might help with configuring speakers to the correct ohm load.
http://www.eminence-speaker.com/resources/wiring.asp

Hope this helps.

Get a high wattage (ceramic) 50+watt 2 ohm resistor and put in series with the 2 speakers in parallel. That will give you a "static" load of 4 ohms, close enough in "dynamic" load that it will protect the power section of the amp...

Remember: Maximum power transfer occurs when the source impedance equals load impedance...
