In my search for a new amp, I came across the DRRI. My main influences include Eric Clapton, John Mayer and David Gilmour. Would it be possible to get close to their tones with an overdrive pedal? If so, which pedal do you guys recommend? I have heard great things about the Fulltone OCD, Ethos Overdrive and the Hermida Zendrive. Can you suggest any other pedals that might help me achieve similar tones? Thanks :D

Love my OCD. That DRRI is a good choice. Clean till 5 and then good ole grit.......Others here really like the Egnater Rebel 20......I'm sure they'll chime in 8) Mike

You are on the right track to some of the best guitar tones! A high quality OD pedal and a DRRI is just magic!

Is it possible to achieve Santana-esque lead tones with a DRRI and a high quality overdrive pedal?

Certainly. Just get a mid-high gain pedal and presto!

I don't know about using it to emulate other's guitar sounds, but the Analogman silver-modded TS9 is the best OD pedal I've ever played. It's a very "un-pedal" sounding pedal. It's very transparent and seems to blend in with an amp's tone. When turned on it just sounds like the amp being pushed rather than simulated overdrive. It ended my search for "the" OD pedal.

Obviously, tone is very subjective. Just my $.02

The 65 RI is an outstanding platform for a lot of classic rock tones.

I use a route 66 comp/overdrive and can get where I want to go with DRRI

Using the comp side I can get one of the most lively clean on the edge of breakup tones I have ever been able to get with any amp.

The overdrive will take you all the way to Billy Gibbons territory.

Gilmore will take a bit more than just an O/D pedal to pull off.

I have to try an OCD just too many fans out there.
