In the light of the new Passport PA technology being marketed does anyone have any knowledge of Fender developing a battery powered amp like Crate's Limo?. The latest entry in that niche market is a 60 watter tube-type being shown at NAMM but the price is off the wall. :?
That company's asserted goal is to provide totally portable amplification of all kinds for the band.

My apologies if this has been addressed before but I generally do not follow this forum.

Doc

Thanks for the reply, but Fender's only entry into the battery powered niche was The Amp Can which I do not find in the current product line.

I guess a bigger question would be, why battery operated?

Portability mainly. There are situations where it's really convenient to havea 50 watt amp with mulitple effects which doesn't need a plug in, or can be powered from your automobile electric supply. I have both a solid state Crate Taxi 30W and a Crate Limo 50W and have used them in a variety of ways both for guitar and mic.

As I have said, there's a new company in the field whose name escapes me at present, marketing a 60W tube amp. They intend to expand their product line into a whole series totally portable amplification gear, but the price point is PRS and beyond at this time.

ZZ..I`m not sure about a battery powered amp other than the one you mentioned...The Amp Can. But if you don`t mind getting away from Fender, Roland makes the Micro Cube that runs on batteries and can plug in too. I have one and it has a number of effects built in for a small portable amp. You might want to take a look at one, its light weight and was $ 130.

Thank you for your suggestion. I am familiar with that product and probably should have included it in my initial remarks. I'm more interested in seeing Fender enter the 50W market with something of that sort. Regrettably, I can't reference the newcomer to the market, but I have gone to their website which I found quite interesting. What struck me was the price point they are working from. a definite niche market if anything else.
