No, the Twin doesn't sound real good at three and when you turn the guitars volume down it's worse.

It gets a bit muddy and your not pushing the amp at all. It's silly to get a high power amp and not utilize it to it's full potential.

You really need to try it for yourself. Obviously you don't believe anyone here. You want the Twin. I've been playing one for 30+ years. The trend today is towards smaller amps. Tube amps, including the Twin really don't sound that great until you push them a little. Unless you are playing huge venues professionally, I'd never recommend a Twin. Nice amps but really too loud and heavy for most applications. Don't buy an amp to impress anyone. As I said before, loud stage volumes destroy the mix and gets the sound guy, audience, club owner and employees angry.

In the end, it's your money, your tone and your back.

I'm now going to ignore this thread, as now myself, Led Zep and now 63 Supro have given Code THE EXACT SAME ADVICE, which has not only been ignored every time, but he keeps asking the same questions.

If he can't figure out that a high-wattage amp wont sound good with the volume at 2 and his guitar volume rolled off, no amount of facts, real-world experience will help.

I see three scenarios quickly happening:
Your mom/landlord/neighbors yelling for you to turn it down
Your band mates yelling at you in rehearsal to turn it down
Soundman (if you play at this level) yelling at you to turn it down

but hey, you've decided it's the amp for you. Good luck

Why would anybody want to buy a racecar to drive around the track at thirty miles per hour? In the amp world less can be more>less volume more tone, get those tubes cooking, crank the volume and enjoy.

There is a reaso why the twin is one of the amps most likely to be found used at guitar center.Silly people buying amps that they dont kow how to use and have no experience on what they need, or they refuse to listen to experienced people like Supro , who always gives sound advice. My mai amp right now is a 22 watt deluxe reverb and my tone is great and I have played numerous rehearsals and a couple of gigs with no complaints from the neighbors bandmates or soundmen and my tone never sounded better.Go ahead ad buy thr twin, someoe will thak you after you sell it ad they get an amazing deal on a used one.

Twins are insanely good if you have an attuanator too...

I use my twin with a deville, its pretty loud but hey ho, its all good.

The Twin is why I have Tinnitus. I never found an attenuator that didn't color the sound of my amp. You also have to be sure the attenuator is rated for 100 watts. A fifty watter will overheat. My new attenuator is my Rebel

Look, you have 5 pages of really experienced people answering your questions and you seem to ignore the answers and ask more questions. People are taking time out of their days and nights to answer you. I have no problem trying to help people as anyone here will tell you, I actually enjoy it, I'm a geezer and been around the musical block quite a few time like many of the other fine people who tried to answer your questions, but now it's time for you to go out and try the amp out for yourself and see if it suits your needs. I wasn't kidding about my nephew, he's six and he understands this. :?

It seems like you're not hearing the advise you want to hear so you make up more questions. Time to stop wasting peoples time.

I own a twin reverb and love it.. I play in my music room with the volume between 3 and 4.. sounds great.. I play late and loud, till 7am and no complaints from my neighbors.. What everyone is telling you makes perfect sense but it seems like you already made up your mind.. go buy a twin and enjoy playing..... :D

I, too, think a Twin Reverb is too much amp for what you're wanting to do with it. I had my mind made up to get one, but my own years of experience, coupled with some sound advice from several of the Fender Forum regulars, made me rethink my decision to by an amp that I would never get my money's worth out of.

If you really want a powerhouse of a clean amp, with a great sound, that doesn't have to be pushed to come to life, AND you have the money to spend, and don't mind back surgery from lugging it around, take a good hard look at the Roland JC-120.

The JC-120 has been used by countless artists for its beautiful clean sound, and shimmering chorus. Its distortion is negligible.

As far as an OD pedal goes, there's a million out there. I'm really partial to the Fulltone Full-Drive 2. Tons of guys use this pedal, and for very good reasons. Check one out.

Really , if you want clean and dont mind back surgery a few times go for a 75 twin.Weighs almost 90 lbs and you will get clean until your ears bleed or your neighbor shoots you .
