Here is what Fender's Manual for the BluesDvl says:

Selectable channels offer sparkling-clean and highgain
tones fueled by three 12AX7 preamp tubes

I am trying to figure out the difference between this amp and the Hot Rod DeVille? - anybody? (besides cosmetics).

How about the diff between a HRDlx and a BluesDlx?


The preamps are different on the blues and hot rod amps. The hot rod has the "gain boost" button (pair of clipping diodes, i think) but the overall preamp design was changed... hotter dirty channel, cleaner (more sterile) clean channel.

As I noted in another post, the footswitches for the 2 amps are different and not interchangeable. The Blues- switch is channel and reverb. The Hot Rod switch is channel and gain boost. Found this out the hard way.
