I am interested in buying a mid-powered(30-60 watts)combo tube amp, and have narrowed it down to several options. These are the ones I am looking at.
Fender Deluxe VM 40W - $800
Fender Hot Rod Deluxe 40W - $700
Marshall Haze 40W - $700
Peavey Vypyr tube 60W - $450
Peavey ValveKing 112 50W - $420
Bugera V55 tube 55W - $450
I know this is a Fender forum, but I also know that many of you have gear from all different suppliers.
My questions are;
Does anybody own any of these amps??
Why are the Fender products so much more expensive than the other manufacturers for an all tube mid power 2 channel/1-12" combo?
Are the 2 Fender amps MIA or MIM??
I am not looking for you to trash my choices, just looking for input from OWNERS of these amps. Thanks in advance.

I am interested in the same range of amps as you. I tried out the Hot Rod Dlx and I like the clean channel but I wasn't sure about the drive channel. Currently I have my eye on a Traynor YCV40WR.

I haven't had any problems with my hot rod deluxe, and like the clean and drive channels. easier to lug than my vintage amps though, I prefer to play thru them. the hrd work well in small clubs. I use a blues jr. in the smaller pubs. I picked up a used hot rod deluxe last year at a mom & pop shop for $500.00

Thanks for the input. I have heard the Hot Rod Deluxe amps are the best, and the worst . Depends on who you talk to. it is a shame that Fender makes a product with such an unreliable history. A good friend has the 60 watt 4-10" DeVille model, and I like it. It has been reliable for him, so maybe he got a "good one".
The Deluxe Reverb sounds great, but is a little low on power with 22 watts. The tone IS awesome tho. I just don't think it cranks out enough loud clean volume for my needs, for larger clubs.
I have been using 2 small solid state amps(Roland Cube 30 and Fender Frontman 25R) in stereo for gigs lately. I really like the clean tones, and the volume is enough to satisfy me. They just don't sound great with my overdrive/distortion units. I use a modded Epi Valve Jr. 5 watt job in the studio, which I kinda dig. It has a nice tone, but no volume.
It sounds like the new Traynor amps are getting good reveiws. I am old enough to remember them in the 1970-80s. They were what you bought when you couldn't afford a Fender or Marshall. I guess I may try one out and see what they're like now.

If you need more power for bigger clubs you might try the 59 bassman or super reverb.SR has better cleans and either one would blow the deville out of the water,or you could mic the DRRI unless thats not an option.

63 Supro would be so proud of you killer B's. :D I've read of several pros who use a DeVille. The new guy for John Mayall uses one. Some guys don't have the money for the more expensive amps. For example, the simple Egnater Rebel 20 costs about $850 with a cab.

If you like your HRD series amps, great I'm glad you do. Enjoy it. It's all about making music. Knowing what I know and went through, I can't with a good conscience recommend them.

YMMV and it's just an opinion.

+1 to that. People say bad crap because bad stuff happened to them. If you had a bad experience like myself and many others who had bad HRD amps it's just human nature to be pissed off about it. brodie owned one and I owned one and we both had similar problems with them. I also bought an Egnater and so did SlapChop. SlapChop actually gave me the push to get one. It's a great amp no doubt, with a lot more tonal variation than any HRD series right out of the box without modding it. So far it has stood up to some very serious gigging. A lot more than the three gigs my HRDlx stood up to.

Also YMMV and this too is just my overstated opinion.

Get the Marshall, Peavey or the Traynor if you don't want a DRRI.
