I have been given an estimate to repair my amp. It was between $425 and $500. One of the boards has damage on it. This price includes going through the whole amp and making adjustments. Is this a fair price?

Channel 2 for the distortion is not working, he will be checking and cleaning all of the switches and connections. The board has some burns on it but it is fixable.

hey

I had an estimate for the fender dealer on my Fender deville last summer $90bucks for a bias adjustment and two screen resistors, lets just say i took the amp home had a backyard amp fix-it guy do it for the cost of the resistors 8 bucks for the both of em a couple of beers and a jam.. shop around for sure. Sometimes you may catch a break..

good-luck
Mike

Thanks again for all the feedback. I have stopped the repair and have been told by everyone I speak to that the quote was too high. I will post the results when I find someone to do an honest repair.

Ok, I got the amp back and it is ready to go. It did need a set of power tubes. The ones in the amp were shot. The first guy said they "looked fine". The total was $275 and everything is fixed. I can only imagine what the first guy would have charged for the tubes in addition to his original quote.
