amp is a THE TWIN - 4-power tubes.

when I play in low power, i flicked the 1/4 power switch to hi power and it gets louder for about 2 seconds, and then goes to the same volume as the lo power - except it seems a bit more compressed.

I checked the hi and lo voltage to the tubes and the values match the scematics nominal values within 5%.

Does anyone know if there is a dramatic volume difference between hi and lo power.

I have pulled the two inner tubes and set the transformer switch to 1/2. Recently done a complete re-tube as well and bias's are bang on (0 and 20).

Thanks

I don't know about that particular Twin, mine's a 76 SF, but my Egnater can dial down to a watt and it's still pretty loud but has less headroom and you get a DB drop. You don't "feel" it as much. 25 watts is not really 1/4 as loud as 100 watts.

Here's a great link that explains a lot of things. Bruce Egnater has been a legendary amp designer since the 70's.

Hope it helps.

If you're still worried, I'd get a good tech to check it out.
