A blues player gave me this advice when I was first starting out.

First put all your controls in the middle. Then adjust until is sounds good to you!

You could just close your eyes, cross your arms and start turning knobs every which way. Who knows, you might land on that "THE ONE" tone, hehehe.

well, that- depends on what u mean by a nice clean sound. if u want a brighter tone put treble and middles up. if you are more of a jazz person u might wanna add some bass an cut off some highs.

I have to agree with Guitar hacker put everything at 6 and work it out using your ears from there, it takes a while, however you will be the most satisfied with it when your done.

the one thing about electric guitars is that each one has a sound print that is somewhat its own and so your amp needs to be "tuned" to it, I have owned three hwy-1 strats and each one has had its own sound and each brand of strings sounds very different from the others, so take the long road to your sound, someone elses idea most likely wont be yours.
