I got myself one of these for Xmas...........sounded beautiful in the store but now I get this after-buzz when I hit a note.......like a swarm of gentle bees.......could be down to the electricity/faulty valve etc..........

Anyone else get this?

I work in Saudi Arabia where I bought it so dealer back up may be superficial at best and I'm reluctant to hand it over to someone who has never even seen a valve....

Hi there pete, just wondering a couple of things. Is the amp new? Did you use your guitar and cable at the store? I'd check to make sure all the valves are seated tightly in their sockets and that the speaker cable is secure. Are you using an outlet that doesn't have other electrical equipment on it, that might cause interference? Do both channels have this following noise? Do you have another amp in the house to check out some of these questions? I'm an old amp tech, and it's pretty amazing how many things can be problematic, even some cell phones and the like can cause noise in the amp. Art

Thanks for the reply! :D

Yip...it's new...tried it in the store..no probs...

Played it at home and through my 335 I get the buzz.....its an "after" noise....played a PRS with P90's and its fine......tried cables etc to no avail....it's plugged into a mains conditioner so thats ok too.....tubes appear to be seated correctly......

I'm reluctant to give it back as these guys have never seen a valve and I don't want them messing with it and ending up with fingerprints over my tubes and the ensuing hotspots.......

I also tried a newer 335 and its not as bad but definetely the after "ring" is still there....could possible be an unseated seated valve so I shall continue when I have time ....Thanks!

Hi.

Take it to a reliable technician. There might be construction faults -not very rare with those new amps nowadays.

You might have a bad pre-amp valve/tube. You could order a replacement online, it'll be there in no time, and tehn you can swap them around to work out if any are duds. If not, at least you've gained a spare pre-amp tube - you'll need one sooner or later.

i had the same weird noise with drri. swapped tubes and the noise was just a little bit different. techician didn't change any tubes. don't know what he did exactly but he fixed it. heh:) my teacher saw me poking around the amp once and said: "don't waste your time fixing the amp yourself. go practice."
