So I took my 5 yr old FM212R to the fender dealer up the road and traded it in today. I went in originally for a FM65R with the updated look, because I never played my 212. It was too heavy for me because I travel a lot and I never needed an amp that loud. The dealer introduced me to the Deluxe 90 with a $500 price tag and after giving it a good play for a few min, I chose it. I had to pay $169 plus tax, so I thought I got one heck of a deal. This evening I hopped online and checked out the reviews for the Deluxe 90 and they are scary low. I mean majority of ppl are giving it a 6 out of 10. It apparently has tons of problems, and it never comes back repaired quite right. Mine of course, is new so there are no problems, and it has a 5 year warranty, but it makes me wonder, should I have stuck to the FM65R, and was I hoodwinked into buying a shoddy amp? I have a sick feeling in my gut. Can anyone give me some good news? :( Thanks!

Can you just return it and get what you really wanted in the first place? All you'll do is stress about the amp. It's not worth it.

Thanks for the suggestion guys. I appreciate it a lot. Its a tough pickle. The thing is, when I traded in my old amp, they guy told me he'd give me value based on what I chose. Now, if I take this new amp back to get the FM65R, I doubt he'll be willing to give me any money back based on it being a LOT cheaper than the Deluxe 90. I'd basically be paying $500 for a $200 amp. Would that be worth it?

P.S. It's a small Mom and Pop music store in the middle of a small town. I'm not even sure if they accept returns. They may only do exchanges.

Well, they should do returns if it hasnt been too long and you have your reciept. If they havent sold your amp, you might be able to get it back. Then you can see if they have anything else to offer you that you like.Dont be afraid to check out the lower priced tube amps either.Bottom line is make a deal that you can live with.My take is get the best amp that you can afford.Dont fall for something less just because its a good deal.Even if you have to wait ,it will be worth it.Just my 2cents.

I'd take the amp back, get my money back and go elsewhere. When you trade gear in, you get ripped off anyway. When I went to trade my HRDlx at GC my Egnater, GC offered me $275 for it. I sold on craigslist it for $475.

Sell you amp on the street use this clown to test drive an amp and buy it from MF, Sam Ash, Sweetwater or another mom and pop shop a town over.

Good advice.I recently sold my 75 Super Reverb on craigslist for 650.I didnt even take it to GC.They probably would have only given me 400 for it if I was lucky.Sell the old amp on Craigs, then go try some amps .Like Supro said,go to Guitar Ctr or buy online at Musicians Friend. You can return it within 30 days , no questions asked if you dont like it.Dont have to pay tax either.

Supro, yes I sold it.I came to the realization that it is way too heavy for me to gig with , and since I already have a 59 bassman , it was just for my own enjoyment.I used the money to buy my drri, which I love,so its all good.I guess I really enjoy being able to tie my own shoes.I am haveing a great holiday Supro, hope yours is going well.

So that's how you bought the DRRI. It is a bit more useful and a lot lighter than the Super. I have a hard time selling stuff. But the HRDlx was the easiest LOL.

I know , I hate selling stuff too.But I am so happy with the drri.It gives me the blackface tone at reasonable levels and it isnt a beast to lug around.Seems most of the gigs I have been doing are 60-100 people and even the bassman is a little much and the blues jr isnt enough to cut thru, plus the tone is a little thin on the bass side. The drri gives me everything I need and I can probably use it at most , if not all of my gigs.
