I recently bought a vibro champ XD and I really liked it. I thought the stock red jewel lamp was a bit boring so I bought a blue jewel from Fender.

But the blue jewel WILL NOT FIT!! Apparently it seems like the Vibro Champ's jewel has larger diameter than the standard jewels, and in addition to that, the lamp is actually an LED instead of the traditional light bulb.

Is there a way to purchase a different jewel lamp for this particular amp? Has anybody here done this before? Maybe there's a way to transplant just the jewel?

Any help would be appreciated

thanks in advance!

It's not an easy job to replace the led and led mounting bracket. The question is: why is it so important to you? I'd be concentrating on my playing instead of the color of the pilot light... just MHO.

I feel you man. I just checked if there was any difference between the one in my Champ and the DeVille ones I have and there is a size difference plus they look completely different. I find this weird.

I use a purple light in my DeVille. I'm not a big fan of red, too angry for me so the purple keeps me cool and fits with the vibe of the room I record in. People might think a thing like that is a stupid mod to make but I like my things perfect and the way I want them. People change the cosmetics of their guitars so why not their amps too?

Its all about individuality.

well a red light just isn't the most comfortable thing to look at for me, and I spend a couple bucks on the blue jewel so I'd rather it work then go to waste? haha... ( i m not trying to change the LED here ) .. and as to why is it so important to me.. it really ISN'T all that important.. i mean.. of course playing guitar is way more important like you said and if there's nothing i can do about this silly little lamp i m just gonna ignore it.. no big deal, posting on this forum about it doesn't mean I see it as ultra important and life threatening.. haha

@ Celtic Cyclonus: wow that really sucks, so I guess I'm just stuck with the red since it seems like the Champ is the only amp with that kind of jewel size.. haha. I do agree that it's strange, it's like the one and only non-standard jewel <_<

OOps, I wasn't clear enough, it's the Champion 600 I have. My bad.

What I meant is that it seems some have different sizes than others. I wonder what amps the replacement jewels fit then.

Hmm ... You should be able to get a properly fitting one. I would suggest looking online for those websites selling Fender amp parts, and look specifically for listings of jewels made especially for your type of amp, don't assume that all Fender amps will use the same size jewel an all their amps, secondly, take some measurements of your original jewel, just to be sure.

If you could find out the size, you might try contacting some custom amp makers on line.
