Any recommendations folks might make would depend on the sound you want or style you play. Having said that, I'll recommend what I always recommend, the amp I play: a DRRI. You should be able to find one for $700 used. I've also noticed quite a few Custom Vibrolux amps in the used market for just under $700. Both amps sound great clean and are loud enough to play with a drummer. You'll need a pedal to get distortion out of either, probably. But most guys seem to use a pedal anyways.

Hey, A used deluxe reverb re-issue could be what your looking for, however Egnater do a great range of amps for not much cash and people round here swear by them.

Marshall's new MA range seem quite good too, all tube high gain heads korean made but they sound great and are pretty cheap.

+1 A DRRI would be sweet with a Tele. I'd stay away from the Hot Rod series period. Just do a search on them. I own an Egnater Rebel 20 and two 112 Egnater cabinets. It's one of the best rigs I've had in years. It has an incredible range or tones. My 76 Twin now stays home an may get sold. I sold a problematic unreliable HRDlx to get it. The HRDlx turned out to be the worst amp I've ever owned in 40 years. I got tired of having it repaired.

You have two 1x12s? How much of a difference in tone does it offer from a 2x12?

Furthermore how much is a 76 twin worth?

It moves more air, so the Egnater bigger and fuller with slightly more headroom available. The Twin is probably worth between $600-$800. People usually don't want them because they are too loud for most clubs and too heavy. The only thing that keeps me from selling the Twin is sometime I do some outdoor festivals and I like using my own amps.

Ah, that makes sense, moving more air and all that.
Also, Wow, a twin for that cheap? Thats an immense bargain! My 65 re-issue made in 1990 cost me £600 ($958) and it was third hand.
