Thanks for the advice guys. I think it's just a normal new smell of tubes. It kind of just smells like a furnace when you first start it up for the first time in the year. I was more paranoid than anything because I wasn't expecting to smell anything with a new amp. It's a lot better now and it works great.

I had smoke come out the back of my 20 year old Mesa Boogie and found a well roasted cricket it the tube cage. The smell was anything but nice, unlike the usual smell of well gigged in smokey venue smell.

my blues deville had a burn smell that wen away after a little while. U nvr kno how long those amps sat bfore u got it or wat they wen threw so i could have been any little thing. but i would take it back just to be on the safe side

yeah, burning is not good.
baking on the other hand sounds tasty, how do I get one of those pie cooking amps? Do they come with pie?

Seriously tho, you think that's a bad smell... my band left some gear in storage while on tour overseas and when we came back the bass amp had a stink like a rotting corpse every time we played through it! Turns out a rat had died in speaker cab and the bass reflex port was pumping out air, like it should, full of dead rat funk!
