Just recvd my new FM 212 DSP amp. Not sure if this is normal with this amp but without playing a note there is just background noise and slight hum. All the features and settings work on the amp but it's just, in my opinion, noisy. Is this normal for this amp?

I was expecting, (hoping), for a quiet background. BTW... I did not have the gain cranked up or anything like that.

Not sure whether this is a problem amp that I need to send back or is this the norm? Also, is there a recommendation to solve the issue if it is inherent with these amps? (or my home outlet).

I basically play blues so cleaner the better. Even better if the amp does not accompany me mith it's noise added to mine in my solos!

Any feedback really appreciated.

Yes the hissing and humming is normal esp on some of the amp selections. A so called vanella clean tone is hard to get out of it... depending on your selected setting and guitar pickups. The FM212DSP is built for gigging as it get LOUD.... Turning it down is fine but you will sometimes hear the last note played in a "distant echo". This is due to fact that it has DSP processing

Personally, I would return it to get it checked

yeah, i got the frontman 212r the other day and it does the same thing its sort of a cone cry, but i noticed today at my band practice that i did not get that cone cry. so based on what you are getting 12" speakers are susceptible to cone cry so i would say it's normal, now i have a question though I'm running a squire strat (i don't care what people think of squire it's a GREAT guitar and i own Gibsons) through a line 6 tonecore compression pedal, a boss mt-2 metal zone a boss ac-3 acoustic simulator a boss bf-3 flanger and a boss aw-3 auto wah into my amp i'm using a visual sound 1spot adapter to power all of my pedals but for some reason when i have the 1spot hooked up to the line 6 along with the other pedals the line 6 produces an incessant hissing and humming it seems i have to have a dedicated power source just for this line 6 pedal, why is this and is there any way to fix this? :?:

my FM DSP makes that same noise or buzzing sound when i am not playing. once i start to play then i don't here it i guess.
i also use head-phones when i play at higher levels during practice times it's still buzzing. remember it's 100watts of power ready to let loose.

Hi all

I have an fm212 dsp with a loud hum problem. I bought it last year at a pawn shop. The other day I turned it on and got this very loud buzz or grounding hum. Any Ideas what this might be or has anyone have this similar problem.

I'm looking also for an authorized repair shop in Calgary if anyone can suggest one.
