I recently purchased a Fender DeVille 4X10, this is the first tube amp i've ever had. This amp takes at least 25-30 minutes to warm up. If I play it before its warmed up, I get all sorts of pops, crackles, low volume and high volume pops. After about 30 minutes, its fine, but I was wondering if that was normal or not.

Could someone let me know if this is normal operation.

I've got a Hot Rod Deluxe and the warm up time is ....maybe 25 or thirty seconds???....Couldn't be much more than that...I think you should return the amp for another one.
Terry

What exactly do you mean by warm up time? Are you talking about the time it takes from the moment you turn it on up untill you hear some sound? Or do you mean, the time it takes for the tubes to really get hot and start to sound good?

I have the DeVille 410 also. I turn the standby on, then turn the power on, wait about 20-30 seconds and then turn the standby off and play (better for the tubes this way). Of course, the amp starts to really sound good after about 30 minutes of playing when the tubes are really scorching hot.

My 4x10 blues deville has the same responce time as Guitar-hurricane's

make shure you dont have a tube that is not seated in all the way (carefully) !!!!!

if thats not the problem and I assume it is, then you might have a bad solder joint somewhere.
