what about a supersonic twin it has the capability of being switched between 100 watts and 25 watts, do you consider this a pretty good amp that would cover just about all venues including out door open areas for gigs at parks and things like that

The Super-Sonic Twin is versatile enough to cover just about any venue and I liked the Vintage channel selections when I plugged in to one at Guitar Center. The deal breaker for that amp for me would be its weight. It's a hefty 83 pounds and I have enough trouble lugging my 64 pound Twin Custom 15 around during the times when the casters have to come off. Oof.

Perhaps if it came with a roadie or two...

Chris, Bill is just making a joke, don't get upset about it, you'll see a lot of it here. Most of us have a sense of humor. Just about all of us have brought a dead thread back to life. Look at the top of the thread for the posted date. Also, just a heads up, you will read things here that you may not like or agree with. We all have personal opinions. Treat them as such and you'll learn a lot. Because of some of the people here like Arjay, Bill, Shimilou, Snowy, BMW and dozens of others, I got into building my own amps, effects and cigar box guitars. I'll soon be building a Tele from a pile of parts I've selected. You'll see that some of the young guys like new amps like the HRD and Pawnshop Series, where a lot of us Geezers despise them. Don't get upset if someone says something negative about gear you own, it's only an opinion and you might even make some very helpful friends here.

thanks guys I ended up buying the twin because of its capabilities though the weight was an issue I'm in a wheelchair so I wouldn't be moving it around too much anyway, I can get it on and off my truck by myself because I have a Tommy lift and I think if my bandmates are really serious they will help me move it if I have to have the casters off. the biggest issue is going to be my neighbor the one just had a brand new baby and she's already complained about my Marshall stack being on one, the other reason why I bought this is because it fits inside our studio a lot better cause its kinda small.

thanks for the input and I'm a jokester at heart but I was just trying to ask a question and I haven't had my medication in a while so I get short with people at times.

Then you'll fit right in, there's no shortage of that around here.

I got my kids used to loud music right off the bat and they could sleep just fine while the music was playing. If you keep things quiet around kids, they will get used to that also and then you'll always have to keep things quiet. I hope that your neighbor can loosen up a bit. Women, and especially new moms, sometimes get uptight over the smallest things. I have lived here for 15 years, played my amps loud quite often, with not one complaint ever, and then a year ago this lady moves in to a house that is farthest away of all my immediate neighbors, and complains about my BJr on 3. I think she was walking her dog outside and could barely hear it and decided to be a.... well, you know.

Congrats on the new amp, and I hope that you'll give us a review and maybe show some pics.

Congrats also on the amp. The twin is my favorite amp of all times.

Everyone's had that issue at one time or another, presuming it's a microphonic tube.

My experience, it's usually the 12AT7 reverb driver tube. This tube is pushed pretty hard in many amps. And it's not unusual for the tube to become noisy or microphonic. Had good success with a quiet, tough, mil spec tube (12AT7WA or 6201). In terms of long quiet life.

Good luck, in any event!

Someone asked for pictures of the SS's so here is explanation of the home studio I’m putting together:

I bought the SS Twin first and love it, then I spotted a SS22 on Craigs List in mint condition for only $500, he delivered it to me and we took it through its paces and he was a fantastic guitar player and knew the amp well so this was a good experience, we went through and compared both amps side by side and the SS22 held its own pretty good so I bought it too. I decided to keep the Twin, it just sounded better over all and had s few added features that I liked as well. Even though there is a weight issues 40 vs. 90 lbs I have a Tommy lift on my truck so it’s a easy load for me, Even in a wheelchair I have great upper body strength and can lift the amp of the floor with one arm.

I know a friend who has already offered me $600 for the SS22 so I’ll sell it for the profit and use it for a road case to transport the twin easier.

Here is my home studio I’m creating. Lacking soundproofing materials.

Amplifiers:
Fishman LoudX Artist acoustic Amplifier
Yamaha THR10X (this is one little bad mama jama)
Fender Mustang V with matching 4x12 speaker cabinet
Fender Super-Sonic 22 (22 watts all tube)
Fender Super-Sonic Twin (25/100 watts switching )
Marshall DSL100 H and matching 4x12” 1960 Lead cabinet (100 watt head)

Guitars
Yamaha A3R Acoustic Electric, SRT elec system
Fender Sonoran SCE Dreadnought Acoustic Electric in Surf Green (not shown), Fishman elec system
Gibson Les Paul Traditional in Chicago Transparent Blue (my baby)
Ibanez S570 hot rod Natural burl wood body and neck, Floyd Rose locking tremolo system

Other PA stuff
PreSonus 16x4x2 powered mixer
JBL PRX715 powered PA Speakers (1500 watts each)
2 Adam AX7 powered studio monitors
Boss DR880 Drum Machine
Road AT1-A studio microphone
Sure SM 57’s (several)
Monster Power Pro3500 Power conditioner
Focusrite Safire Pro 40 Audio Interface
Behringer BTR2000 Rack tuner

They only allow 3 URL’s on this forum so here are only 3 pictures to get the idea what my home studio will look like, I still need Sound proofing materials:

Once you get to ImageShak site you can scroll through all the studio pictures 7 I think

Very nice setup. What do you use to dampen any ambient reflections of the room? You have any audio samples posted?

Thanks! :D
