I cant imagine that having tubes mounted on the chassis like the vintage reissue series would raise the price much.

I would have gladly paid a couple hundred more dollars for a double sided board, better components and chassis mounted tube sockets.

My Egnater Rebel 20 has a better board, components, no ribbon connectors, a stronger chassis, tube sockets properly and solidly mounted to the board, plus a better tone stack and feature set for about the same money. It also cuts better and sounds bigger and louder than my HRDlx ever did. . The Egnater is assembled in China under strict supervision and every head is inspected and tested in the US. China has several levels of production from cheap and sleazy to high end manufacturing. Look at some of the Ibanez Artcore series guitars coming out of China. The quality is astounding. Thsy play, sound and look great.

It can be done at a reasonable cost. Mexican labor is no where near what it costs in the states. I would rather have an amp for 25 years than three and either sellit or toss it. I don't consider a $700 amp a cheap amp.

I have won a BJ amp cover on Ebay for $40 AUD including shipping.

I figure it's worth preserving....or I should let it self relic from gig to gig...

What would you do?

I am told that it does not come with a cover or fat switch foot pedal at initial purchase from the shop.

However I was advised from the authorised Fender Dealer that it is an optional accessories.

Here is the Ebay purchase I have won..

I figured I'd post here instead of creating a new post on the Blues jr. I just picked up the regular Tweed covered BJ. It had about 5 weeks of rental on it before I purchased it. I got it at a slight discount. At low volumes it sounds good and when the master is at 12 it sounds nice and clean, but as I start to overdrive the amp I get a slight cabinet or speaker buzz as my guitar sustains. My girlfriend noticed it right away and said "Take it back!" It also makes a slight crackle or speaker noise when I am picking on the high strings, while it is turned up when it is driven. I am not sure what I should do. Take it back for refund, exchange (for brand new black tolex - thats all they have brand new) or upgrade to the Hotrod Deluxe for another $200.

HI Yodacaster, how did you go? Did you Swap it for the Tolex BJ in the end?

Cheers.

Mine the best amp I've ever owned so far. I experimenting with running it completly orgainic. Guitar, cord and amp. It rocked so hard it freaked everybody out. I was in a room full of VHT's and marshalls. I'm gonna dial in a Vol/wah (dunlop qe 95) to push the signal alittle for the harder stuff on my song list. I know in the boost mod the 12db boost makes it scream. I defanatly got no regreat's about buying mine. A real Big hit for the folks at fender, For Sure! :P  :)

Wow! I'm glad you didn't waste your money on a VHT or a Marshall.
Glad it works for you. A volume/wah pedal won't push the signal at all.

Yeah I'm a really not in to brand name. I can play on about any thing and get a good response. I like my old fender 85 solid state too. I'm sure supuro 63 knows like all good players the talents in your hands and soul not in some over priced amp!

I actually returned it for a Traynor YCW40WR. I upgraded to a 40w and I am really happy with it. I had a bit of tube rattle (or at least thats what I thought) and after taking it to a jam and giving it a work out, everything seems good now. I am really liking this amp but I have yet to find my sound on it as I am constantly tweaking it as I play!
