If clean is your thing, the Twin Reverb can't be beat.

I own a supersonic and it does take my pedals well. It breaks up pretty early (about 3 out of 10) but remember, you may only have it up to 3-4 at a gig (it is very loud). I find that if i get a nice clean on the vibrolux channel (which sounds awesome) then just mic the thing.

if micing isnt an option, i could see where the massive volume and headroom would be necessary.

The twin reverbs are amazing. They are absolutely gorgeous. The take front of amp pedals really great (Distortions, Overdrives, compressors and fuzz.) However it does not contain an FX loop for post preamp FX (Modulations and stuff). But they still sound great in front.

If you want, you can try the fender pro-tube twin which has a gain channel and an effects loop added to it.

I'm partial to Twins. I don't miss the effects loop. Way beck we didn't even have them. A lot of people don't use them correctly anyway. They plug distortion, fuzz and wah pedals into them.

You'll never get more clean than a Twin.

nobody mentioning the Twin-Amp here...

+ a dirty channel for gritty stuff

and a effects loop w/vol in&outs

I think most people know to put distortions infront, but if they're using a big pedal board to run the extra wires could be a pain so they dont bother.

but yeah, a twins the way forward

Not from what I've been seeing. I see a lot of younger players throwing everything in the loop in the local clubs around here.

Anyway, my Twin doesn't have a gain channel either. Mines a 76 SF with the useless master volume control. Never tried the new Twins so I can't comment on the gain channel. Pedals are easier and more useful too.

Yeah, i see what you mean supro, pedals enable to get you many colours of sound, what do you think of multi effects? Or are the mass pedal boards really worth it? I dont like the idea of spending £80($130) on a power supply.

I'm an old guy and like pedals. Multi Effect processors just confuse me.

A friend of mine let me try his Boss ME-70. That had dials on it and just 4 footswitches and a wah pedal. That seemed more logical to me. But I still like stepping on what I want. I don't use many pedals except a wah or chorus since I bought the Egnater.

Yeah and pedals i guess are much more user friendly as you just said. And you can tailor your sound perfectly.

Having owned and played them both (there is a twin in my studio right now), I will say the twin has the edge slightly on the clean tone thing.

The supersonic has far more in terms of different tones available and one of the sweetest cruchy blues tones ever.

If I had to choose one or the other I would have to go supersonic for the bassman/vibro combo of sounds and the killer cascading gain.

The vintage 30 in the supersonic will take your head off !!!!!

plug in before you buy, two very different animals there.
