I was just wondering if it was safe to do this? Both have a 8 ohm output/input, and i'm pretty sure it's ok, but I thought i'd better ask someone who knows about this kind of stuff before I blow things up :).

Thanks.

Yeah Ben, if the Marshall 1936 cab is wired for 8ohms, it's a great match for the Deluxe Reverb main speaker out. If you're thinking about using it with the internal speaker(ala. ext. speaker out), the mismatch will cause a little stress on the output section. Art

Thanks! How about unplugging the internal speaker and just using the 1936 through the external?

You need to unplug the internal speaker and plug the cabinet into the internal speaker jack in it's place. It should sound awesome. Moving more air is a good thing.

Ben the main speaker out(the one closest to the standby switch) is a shorting jack. It protects the output tranformer in case the amp is operated without a speaker plugged in. The extension speaker jack is inactive unless something is plugged into that main speaker jack.(main=internal) Art
