Today when I turned on the Super Champ XD it started making like a "put-put" kind of noise and no sound was coming from the speaker when I played my guitar. I turned it off and back on and it worked fine. Anyone know what the problem is here?

Try reseating your tubes...sometimes when the tubes are not fully seated this happens. Hope that this helps.

Cheers! It's working fine now, as long as it's nothing too serious. I will reseat the tubes as you say.

OK so I was playing the amp tonight on channel 2 when the amp made a slight pop and the light on channel 2 went out. I turned the amp off, waited for a few seconds, turned it back on and it was making that cracking noise I described earlier in the thread. I turned it off for a few minutes, turned it back on again and it's working........ Anyone have any ideas? This is very frustrating - I had another make of valve amp earlier on in the year and it was faulty and now this.

EDIT: Just there, a few minutes ago, I was playing and the volume increased slightly then the channel 2 light went on then came back on again.....

Binge,
How old are your tubes?? Check and see if they have like a brownish rainbow on the glass if so you might want to change them...I will check the schematics later and see if I can find out what the problem is...sorry I am not much of a help until I see them...

Binge,
Here is a good resource page to figure out what the problem might be.

it sounds to me like you have a cold solder joint somewhere on circuit board next time it malfunctions, try tapping or knocking on top of the amp see if it clears up
