If I may..I would go with a Fender Super Champ XD. Great little 15 watts with tons of classic Fender tube tone and the DSP are some great effects. Hope that this helps.

Fender SCXD will make you happy! What a great little amp. I have five Fender amplifiers and the one I really wouldn't want to be without is the SCXD. You've got great tone and although you asked about low volume situations it can pack plenty of punch for a small amp if you need it.

redsoxfan2, I have had my SCXD for two months now and I highly recommend it 100%! Great tube sound, plenty of power, reverb to die for, and you can play with the Voice and F/X settings for hours! Regards, G.G.

Place me squarely in the column of Super Champ XD fans. It's a great little amp! 8)

Forgive me for my ignorance, but doesnt the rebel 30 have a knob that allows you to turn the power section down to 1 watt?

yes. but it is not an attenuater so the tone is not as good at lower volume.

The tones good. What happens with the watt control is you lose decibels. You also lose headroom. It sounds weak at a watt but not bad, but at around the 8-12 watt range you're in tweed Princeton territory. You can get great tones at low watt settings, but you need to tweak the dials. The 30 is a loud amp, but I thought the Rebel 20 was voiced better for my needs.

Last week I bought a Blues Junior because my 59 Bassman is just too loud. So far I'm very satisfied with what it can do.

+1 for the blues junior

I had both the BJ and the SCXD. I say "had" because I sold the SCXD. Not a bad amp, but the BJ is in a different class.

i bought a fender vibro champ a few days ago cos i wanted a smaller lighter practice amp to carry around (save wear and tear on my 65 ri deluxe reverb) and all i can say is, its an amazing amp. its obly 5 watt with 12 ax7 pre and 6v6 output but it gets pretty loud especially at certian preamp settings. between the pre-post gain and the voicing (preamp selection) and, the digital effect selection, you have get all kinds of sound combanations. im really impressed with this amp and now, when i go to play here i usuallly fire up the vibro champ instead of the deluxe. love my fenders lol.
